Vampire Facial
What is PRP treatment?

PRP or “platelet rich plasma” is also known as vampire facelift. PRP is one of the best treatments, where nature’s natural healing process is utilised by mankind to its fullest. In this treatment, a controlled injury is given by either of these different means- dermaroller, MNRF, fractional laser or by dermapen on the facial skin, and then platelet rich plasma (separated from your own blood) is injected in the injured area. This process triggers a healing cascade because of which there is synthesis of new as well as remodelling of existing collagen and elastin tissue and blood vessels in the treated skin thus making this procedure effective and long lasting.

Why do we need this treatment?

This is one of the most effective treatments to slow down ageing, reduce fine lines, acne scars & chickenpox scars. One can also opt this treatment for skin whitening, improving dull skin and uneven skin tone. It gives a new life to the treated area making the skin glowing and healthy.

Things to Know

PRP has no side effects. You may have redness and swelling for 3-4 days after the procedure. Otherwise, it’s a very safe and effective treatment.
PRP is a collagen induction treatment; it induces synthesis of new collagen in the skin and also improves blood circulation in the skin thus reducing the signs of ageing in the skin. So, whatever benefit we are going to get out of one session is going to persist but ageing is an ongoing process so some of the collagen will breakdown with time as a part of ageing process. In order to continue the benefits, one can get the session repeated as recommended by the dermatologist. However, in cases of scars and stretch marks, the improvement achieved stays.

Though PRP is a safe procedure, still you must follow few precautions

  • You should regularly use sunscreen while going out in the sun.
  • You should keep the hydration level of the skin good by applying moisturisers and drinking a good amount of water in a day
  • You should not use very heavy makeup on the same day.
According to Dr Ruchi Agarwal, MD, a renowned dermatologist with almost 2 decades of experience in the field of dermatology, this is one of her most favoured treatments as this treatment gives a long-lasting effect and has no side effects. Just one session of PRP treatment is enough to see the results. The skin feels soft supple & rejuvenated after the treatment.
Yes, PRP can be combined with other non-invasive and invasive treatments.

No, PRP does not make your skin sensitive but you should take care of your skin by applying sunscreen and moisturiser. In fact, PRP treatment can be used to reduce the sensitivity and improve strength of the skin in patients with conditions like Steroid Induced Facial Dermatosis (SIFD).

Yes, there is some pain in the PRP procedure. So, numbing cream is applied before the procedure which makes it very comfortable for the patients. At Satya, we use a special numbing technique to make the patient’s experience even more comfortable. It really helps a lot as far as results are concerned because proper numbing is a must before the procedure. At some places, people do it without proper numbing and thus to minimise the pain part, they don’t do the actual procedure of injecting the PRP. At every single step, one has to be precise, the depth of injections also matters a lot for perfect results. That is the reason why people get results at Satya in just one session, which they may not get at other clinics even in 5-6 sessions.
Duration of 1 session is 1-1 1/2 hour.
PRP is a very good and effective procedure. It can be done on face, neck and hands for anti-ageing. PRP can also be done for reduction of under eye circles, scars & stretch marks at different body sites. PRP of scalp is done to improve growth and quality of hair.
PRP (platelet rich plasma) is a very effective treatment and has to be performed under supervision of a dermatologist. The treatments done at parlours are generally superficial and are no match to PRP. Some parlours have started to claim that they are doing PRP, this should be avoided and the treatment should always be done under supervision of a dermatologist maintaining proper aseptic conditions and following all the steps precisely.
