What are Skin Tag or acrochordon?

Skin tags are also known as acrochordon, it is a common type of skin growth. Skin tags mainly grow on different parts of body but are commonly seen on neck, upper chest, underarms, under the breast, groin, and eyelids. Skin tag may become irritated, when it comes in contact with clothes . While it gets rubbed or due the friction, skin tag sometimes irritates the skin and it becomes inflamed. People may experience small growth of skin and it may be become dark over the time. Most of the skin tags do not require treatment as they are harmless and painless.

What are the causes of skin tag?

There are no exact causes of skin tag or acrochordon but yes it is said to be due to cluster of collagen and blood vessels when they are trapped inside thicker piece of skin, they can also be caused when the skin is rubbed against skin. People who are obese and people who have diabetes are more prone to the condition and many times it can be seen during pregnancy.

Which age group is usually affected?
